Both are very essential when we want to share resources among many computers from a main computer

Router works at layer 3 of OSI Model                  Switch works at layer 2 of the OSI Model
It uses IP address                                                  It uses MAC Address
It is a Networking Device                                       It is Also a Networking Device
It is full duplex                                                         it is also full duplex
It is faster                                                                It takes much time for complicated Decision

Router is more sophisticated device than Switch
